Enhancing Mental Arithmetic with the Dodecahedron Dice Set
To support junior students in developing strong mental arithmetic skills and disciplined mathematical thinking, we use the Dodecahedron Dice Set—a collection of six vibrant, twelve-sided dice designed for the 24 Game Puzzle. This engaging arithmetic challenge encourages students to manipulate four numbers from the dice to reach a total of 24, without relying on calculators or pencils. Through addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponentiation, the game fosters critical thinking and strengthens working memory in a dynamic way.
Similar to the Countdown show on Channel 4, this game can be enjoyed during recess and lunch breaks, turning arithmetic exercises into an exciting and competitive challenge. Students are motivated to refine their skills, with incentives and rewards given to those who demonstrate progress, aligning with our classroom enrichment program.

- Includes 2 groups of 2 matching colors per 6 dice /set, suitable for various calculations like basic arithmetic ( for KS2 pupils ), fractions, decimal places, exponentiation, permutations, and combinations.
Game Rules & Usage
- "Super Dice 24" has no fixed rules. Teachers can easily adapt the practice and the game to match their students' skill levels by adjusting parameters like group composition, the number of dice, available time, and allowed mathematical operations. Pairing students of similar abilities works best. Players rely entirely on mental arithmetic and working memory—no calculators, pencils, or paper are permitted. The only physical materials needed to play are a set of dice, a plastic dish, and a gaming mat.
- Only worksheets for different practice sessions are applied as homework to guide students in recording the game results and formulas at home.
- Students are encouraged to invite their family to play at their homes to assist and compete. A timer (either a mobile phone or a sand timer) and a plastic dish are necessary for the practice.
- Multiplication methods such as the grid, cross, and lattice methods are presented via online videos and promoted, along with other methods like factorials, permutations, and combinations.
- A "Countdown Games Show" should be regularly held in school during recess and lunchtime.
- Awards should be offered to students who work hard and show significant progress.
